Mission statement
The Collective Forgotten aims to empower, serve, and bring attention to the most vulnerable, most Forgotten souls in our midst.
We seek to love others by showing empathy & pursuing justice for the marginalized, oppressed, outcasts—the Forgotten in our society at large & in our world.
We desire to see positive change in our world by spreading hope to the hopeless, by providing both emotional & physical resources to those in need & by highlighting those in our midst that have been Forgotten in order to cultivate an understanding of empathy.
What we will do
Using our giftings, we will begin by creating different forms of art that will bring awareness to the Forgotten. We will then raise money through fundraisers, concerts, & events, etc. that will be allocated to various conduits of help to those we serve.
Quotes
"You must love your neighbor as you love yourself." Jesus (Matthew 22:39)
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
"Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power, at its best, is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice, at its best, is love correcting everything that stands against love." ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
"The Jesus we read about in the Gospel walked the earth asking two questions wherever he went. Who is power forgetting? Who is religion oppressing?" ~ Glennon Doyle Melton
"If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other." ~ Mother Teresa
